Are you interested in becoming a certified Pilates instructor?

Strong Tower Pilates Studio is a teacher training site for the prestigious Pilates Core Integration, Inc. Teacher Training Program. This Program, designed by Virginia Nicholas M.A., R.N., teaches the traditional Pilates Method using the same approach taught by Eve Gentry and Michele Larsson. Pilates Core Integration (PCI) will give students the knowledge and experience to teach Pilates for fitness and body-mind integration.

At this time, PCI offers a 60-hour Pilates Mat Certification as well as 450-hour Comprehensive Pilates Certification. We are currently creating a “Mature Movement” Pilates Mat Certification for trainees who want to specialize in teaching the aging adult population.

Mat Certification
The PCI Mat Certification is comprised of two, 2-day weekend workshops, an apprenticeship at Strong Tower or another approved PCI studio in the US and Canada, and final tests. The weekend workshops include Pilates exercises, basic anatomy, Pilates history, practice teaching and homework will be assigned. This aspect of the training covers material from fundamental to advanced levels on mat, how to teach a Pilates mat class and modifications. In the apprenticeship component, students obtain required hours of personal practice, observation/assist and student teaching.
The final exam includes a written test, mat performance and teaching a mat class and is evaluated by Virginia Nicholas either in person or via webcam. Completion of the PCI Teacher Training Program takes approximately 4 months.

Comprehensive Certification
The PCI Comprehensive Teacher Training Program is comprised of five, 3-day weekend workshops, and two, 2 day mat workshops, an apprenticeship at Strong Tower or another approved Pilates studio, and final tests. The weekend workshops include Pilates exercises, anatomy related to movement, Pilates history, practice teaching, reading assignments and homework will be assigned. This aspect of the training covers material from fundamental to advanced levels on the mat and five main pieces of Pilates equipment. In the apprenticeship component, students obtain required hours of personal practice, observation/assist and student teaching.
The final exam includes a written test, reformer performance and teaching a 50-minute private session and is evaluated by Virginia Nicholas either in person or via webcam. Completion of the PCI Teacher Training Program takes approximately 12 months.

See what others have to say about PCI’s Teacher Training program and Strong Tower Pilates’ Apprenticeship program….

“The training and apprenticeship at Strong Tower Pilates and with PCI offers the highest quality Pilates education. Covering all areas of equipment training and anatomy relating to Pilates, the program provided me with a solid base for teaching. Kelly’s knowledge and experience made this an exceptional experience for me.”  Graduate of PCI Comprehensive 2012

“The PCI program was very intense and covered much more than just learning certain exercises. The rigorous program (consisting of 500 hours of observation, instruction, teaching and practice) really allows students to learn about the day to day experiences of a Pilates instructor (from different client personalities to physical limitations and how to address them, to anatomy, health issues, and more). The amount of hours required for observation and teacher training is substantial — but this is what makes the Strong Tower Pilates apprenticeship better than many others. The training exposed us to clients with many different physical abilities and limitations. We learned about modifications and contraindications for clients with various health issues and anatomical differences. Pilates instruction is an ongoing practice where there is always room for learning, however the knowledge and experience I gained through the PCI program and the Strong Tower Pilates apprenticeship, gave me the confidence and ability to teach this amazing method and help people with many types of physical issues.”  Graduate of PCI Comprehensive 2011
